Nursing Homes

Many nursing homes provide both long-term care and short-term care.

  • Long-term care provides individuals with both nursing and custodial care (help with bathing, meals, toileting, and more). Long-term care is typically paid for through long-term care insurance, Medicaid or private pay.
  • Short-term care (also referred to as skilled rehabilitation or post-acute care) is focused on providing individuals with nursing care and rehabilitation (physical, speech and/or occupational therapy) to get them back into the community. Short-term care is typically paid for by Medicare or private insurance plans.

Financial Planning

Below is information related to financial planning that you may find helpful if seeking to find an attorney to help with writing a will, a trust, estate planning or naming a financial power of attorney.  Financial planning is often associated with advance care planning. Many individuals choose to fill out advance care planning documents with their attorney. While this is acceptable, most medical advance care planning documents do NOT need to be filled out with an attorney.
